Hello! I am Aida Lora!
Since childhood, I’ve been passionate about art, design, sustainability and architecture. I earned a bachelor’s in architecture from Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic, and in 2013, I moved to Miami to pursue a Master’s in Interior Architecture with a Certificate in Yacht and Cruise Ship Design from FIU. Also, I obtained the LEED Green Associate in 2015.
I’ve worked with several architectural and interior design firms on major commercial, hospitality and luxury residential projects. Projects for renown brand such as Hilton Hotels, IHG, Shell Oil HQ, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, TUI Cruises and Baha Mar. With over 12 years of experience in hospitality, cruise ship interiors, corporate environments, and large-scale projects. I would guarantee goal oriented Interior design and architecture project deliveries.
In 2017, I began connecting with the interior design community, joining the IIDA Miami Chapter and teaching at the Miami International School of Art and Design. Teaching enhanced my mentorship and consultancy skills, and in 2018, I earned my NCIDQ certification, becoming a Registered Interior Designer in Florida. In 2020 I was awarded an IIDA Bragg award for “Star of the Year” for advocacy efforts. I have participated in the CSI Cruise Ship interiors as Influencer and future leaders 2022 and 2023 program. I served in the SDS Sustainable Design Summit advisory board 2022 and 2023 and in the FIU School of Architecture and Arts advisory board 2020-2024. Design has become a passion and crafting unique spaces a goal when development a project. When I finished a project, I am committed to deliver a space that functions beatifically. The moment when I see the client’s vision through my design expertise come to a reality, is the moment that fuels my passion for design.
Design Is Far From Simple
The standard notion of design is often oversimplified, but in truth, great design is far from basic. It demands both creativity and a deep understanding of structure. Effective design strikes a balance between aesthetic beauty and practical functionality, requiring a keen eye for detail and the ability to envision how different elements come together cohesively.
In architecture and interior design, every detail matters—from the materials used to the way light interacts with a space. A successful project doesn’t just look good; it feels right and functions well, meeting both visual and practical needs. While beauty is often at the forefront of design, functionality is its foundation. A beautifully designed room that lacks usability quickly becomes a missed opportunity.
Architecture focuses on order and structure, much like how a well-thought-out floor plan ensures a space flows naturally. However, too much rigidity can make a design feel cold or sterile. That’s where softer, more dynamic elements come into play—natural textures, curves, and colors that bring warmth and life to a space, creating a balance between logic and emotion in design.
Design that leads with aesthetics alone can sometimes lack substance, while overly functional spaces may miss the emotional resonance that makes a place feel like home. True mastery comes from blending both. A thoughtful design allows creative impulses to guide decisions while ensuring every choice serves the project’s overall purpose and function.
When design is out of balance, it shows an over-cluttered room, poor lighting choices, or a layout that doesn’t support the flow of everyday life. Just as unhealthy design leads to discomfort, well-integrated design creates spaces that feel intuitive, and harmonious.
In architecture and project management, every detail must serve the bigger picture. The best projects reflect a clear vision, where every element works together. Whether it’s the selection of materials or the overall theme of a space.
Ultimately, great design seeks to unify form and function. When executed well, it creates environments that not only look stunning but also enrich the lives of those who inhabit them.Â
